Imagine A Love

I wrote this poem for my mother and Father in law’s 50th Wedding Anniversary. I tried to imagine what a marriage of 50 years would look like. Every marriage has its ups and downs but staying committed to one another and having God as the foundation for everything is the example I’ve seen.

Imagine A Love

Imagine a love

Sweet - One of virtue, truth and honor.

Imagine a love

Where there are no limits.

Where two become one,

elegant examples of God’s endless love.

Imagine a love

Where one is quick to forgive, and the other, quickly forgets.

Imagine a love

Where no words are ever spoken that may damage the character of one another.

Where friendship, trust, and above all respect is never forgotten.

Imagine a love

Where a marriage, between a man and woman, blossoms into a golden flower.

Where disagreements do happen,

but in their adamant commitment to one another, find a way to keep going.

Imagine a love

Where Christ is their cornerstone.

Where love, laughter, and family has filled so many of our hearts and souls.

Imagine a love

Where the journey has taken them so many places,

photos of found memories, bring tears of joy and accomplishment.

Imagine a love

Where 50, beautiful years of marriage is celebrated.

Mom and Dad, we celebrate you. Thank you, that we don’t have to imagine a love.

By God’s grace you are our example.

May God continue to bless you, and keep you, in his endless love.
